Carroll to Newcastle.
Pay per play contract to stop him doing what he did here.

Again I'd say to those who think Carrol's only attribute is in the air to watch a compilation of his goals over his career.

Exactly that.
You'd think we had nothing new to talk about.
Could be an exciting season, I reckon.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
Is he going to be like Allardyce, people can't let go and keep making threads about him?

I personally a bit relieved I don't have to hope he can stay fit anymore, he was West Ham, he gave me some moments and always wanted him to do well. Ultimately disappointing, like a lot of West Ham but why dwell on it further.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
I am so glad we're no longer associated with him

Last season he was an utter embarrassment and clearly showed that the talent that he did have has long since faded

He's been nicking a living off us for far too long

Good riddance!

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
Unless he has/had debt to clear, even just the net result of selling his drum and downsizing to Rod's place should mean he never needs to work again (unless he's stupid...).

He needs to be very careful now. The only good things in his life now are his Mrs and the kids. There's no way she will ever move away from London, so he'll be up in Newcastle on his jack... It'll all be fine, or he's the next Gazza in waiting...

Roll that dice...

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
It is pretty obvious that due to the amount of ankle injuries he has had (which is still current by the looks of it) meant he lost his main strength which was in the air. When he did play last year he wouldn't/couldn't jump which meant he wasn't even competing. I can't see how this will change and expect him to retire at the end of this season.

If he miraculously comes good and plays regularly I think that will confirm that he was too busy pissing it up in London. I dont expect this to be the case though.

His body wouldn't help him because of the amount of Alcohol and other substances he used to abuse.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
I met a guy who was involved (in a small way) in one of Carroll's rehab programmes. Said Carroll's attitude was first-class and he fought hard to get himself fit.

He used to get very frustrated that his own body could not manage the workload and was breaking down.

So I never believed all the bar room crap about him not wanting to play etc.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
His ankle will give out.

He's got several pins/screws in his joint which still cause him problems, by all accounts. He's had multiple surgeries on the ankle and it's a mess.

He was a handful when he was on form and healthy. But those days are probably long gone. Shame, because I actually quite liked the fella.

Glad he aint on our books anymore and dont see him playing more than 8-10 games. #deadhorse

20 goals in how long? I dont think he will score a total of 20 goals ever again.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
i don't understand why people rate him so highly.
properly look at his career, he's had one half decent PL season at newcastle. failed at liverpool and has been mostly injured at west ham.

if he wasn't a local boy, they'd never have signed him.

he's a dinosaur.

awful first touch and slow as treacle.

Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
Think half way through the season Pellegrini said Carroll had the opportunity to earn a contract when he was asked about his future.
The implication was that if he stayed fit and scored goals we would look at keeping him.
That never happened

Said at the time when he came back he seemed to lack the power and athleticism he once had. Without that he doesn’t have much to offer.
It’s a low cost gamble for Newcastle if it’s pay as you play but I don’t think he has played more than about 15 games in any of the last 6 seasons. You can’t believe that another year older and a few more hundred pints of Newky Brown are going to change that.

Willtell 8:15 Fri Aug 9
Re: Carroll to Newcastle.
Carroll failed to impress Pellegrini clearly. As it happens I thought he was shit too after his last comeback. Not as strong in the air, not so mobile, slow and committed fouls all the time.

If he scores 20 goals I'll eat my hat. He'll probably not manage 20 appearances....

Would have given him the same contract , nothing to lose really for either party
